Welcome to a New School Year (2014-2015)

I would like to say WELCOME to everyone! I'm now teaching students from Kindergarten through 8th grade and I'm excited about this new school year. Lots of great art will be happening this year. Can't wait to see what my new "ARTIST's" are going to be creating!

A new look for my classroom this year! Wanted to add some more color and designs. It's still in the process of being complete, but so far I think I'm liking it.

Hundertwasser Inspired Still Life's

I love the spirals and colors that can be seen in Hundertwasser's art work! I would love to see one of his buildings in real life, I bet it's AMAZING!

Using the idea from one of his works of art, student's created a different twist on a still life!

We also got to read and enjoy his book. What I love about it is that it keeps kids interested and it has some fun things you can incorporate into your art work: like creating "an artist name"! I think mine would be: "Daisy Laughing Hippy"!

René Margaritte inspired "Marvelous Me"

One of the things in art we have to teach is portraits and sometimes it's hard to think of new ideas and ways to create a portrait. This lesson from my book made this project really FUN and INTERESTING! I wasn't sure how my 3rd grader's would do using food and watercolors to create a portrait but I'm truly inspired by the interesting ideas and choices they came up with.

Ton Schulten Inspired Landscapes

One of the lessons in my art book is a great success with my 3rd grader's. I love the separation and the bright contrasting colors they used.

October 3 & 4th - Students participated in a workshop to create a "make the world a better place" pathway using rocks and painting them like fish based on the book "Only One You"!

Starting out with a BLAST!

iPads - coming to an "Art Room Near You"!

We just recently got iPads as teachers and I'm so excited. I've done so much research that my brain actually is on overload. The things that are out there are unbelievable.

On of my first apps to implement is going to be: Dropbox & DROPitTOME
http://dropitto.me/FClause is my link to drop files to me. This will be used to collect digital files from students, parents, etc... I can't wait to start using it. Going PAPERLESS is my GOAL!!!! Except of course heir wonderful artwork! But even that is going to be reduced with a NEW APP I want to use called "Artrage"!

Lesson Ideas!

I've had a lot of people ask me how did I create some of my art projects, etc... so I decided to create an account through "Teachers Pay Teachers". Marc Chagall Stained Glass

I found a great stained glass lesson in the SchoolArts Magazine that I took and changed for creating "Marc Chagall Stained Glass" landscape artwork pieces. Their pieces are based off the painting "Paris Through a Window"

I used "The Dreamer for the Village" by Michelle Markel to introduce the art of Marc Chagall to my students. It's awesome!
